The taught lines and grand windows of this compact new house frame front and rear gardens on a busy Berkeley street. Numerous green materials and systems ensure a low operating cost and light footprint. Estimated completion: Spring 2008.

Vaulted ceilings, extensive hardwood finishes and underfloor heating help this second story addition and remodel meet the needs of a young family of four with simple, elegant and warm interiors. Estimated completion: Summer 2008.


The vertical proportions of this compact addition shape a private aerie above the garage of an 1860's Victorian row house. Exposed wood structure and extensive built-ins give a tree-house character to the spaces. Estimated Completion: Spring 2009.

Our second project for this Capitol Hill row house adds kitchen, family room and a roof deck while relying on a glazed two-story volume to flood the interior with daylight and relieve the house's long narrow proportions. Estimated completion: Spring 2009.


Our second addition to this rural Virginia farmhouse substantially expands the house's comfort and utility while preserving its vernacular character and extending its integration into the surrounding landscape. Estimated completion: Spring 2008.
